Ubuntu 11.10 and NVidia-173 A Difficult Combo I just recently decided to upgrade from Linux Mint 8, to Ubuntu 11.10 (in anticipation of 12.04's release next month.) Ubuntu made a ton of changes to startup, and how things get running.  That AND I'm running a really CHEAP KVM (a device for sharing a single keyboard, monitor mouse for up to 4 machines.)  The KVM I have has a major flaw... it does not properly pass the monitor information to NON-Windows Operating systems.
